This book is on a CD in PDF format. Books on CD take up very little space, and you can print the parts you need to take to the shop without worrying about messing up the book!
This great old foundry book from 1924 is over 200 pages packed with good info and plenty of clear illustrations. It starts with basic tool usage and proceeds with an intro to foundry work. It has plans for a molding bench before the section on molding practice. Then it gets into the meat of the book with numerous projects including cores, pulleys, gears, bells, and much more.
It has a section on making your own brass melting furnace (great for aluminum, too), and then goes straight into how to load and run a cupola!
This is more of an all around foundry book, not just pattern making.
It goes beyond split pattern making and describes multi-part patterns to cast items (like dovetails) with no natural parting line.
I have the Navy Foundry Manual, and I still learned quite a few tricks from this book.
Below is the entire table of contents so you can judge for yourself.
